2022 Wendy's Frosty 5K

The annual Frosty 5K Run for Adoption is hosted by The Wendy's Company to benefit its charity of choice, the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The 2022 virtual event will raise funds and awareness for the Foundation's mission.

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a national, nonprofit public charity dedicated to finding permanent homes for the more than 140,000 children waiting in North America's foster care systems. Without our help, many of these youth are at risk of aging out of the system without a permanent home. 

Created by Wendy's founder Dave Thomas who was adopted, the Foundation implements evidence-based, results-driven national service programs, foster care adoption awareness campaigns and innovative grantmaking. Through the Wendy's Wonderful Kids program, the Foundation supports the hiring of adoption recruiters dedicated to serving youth who have been lingering in foster care the longest.

Success Story

Placed in foster care as babies because of abuse and neglect, Jermesha, Floyd and Jermain were without a permanent place to call home. For five long years, they were often separated from one another. 

 
Thankfully, the children were referred to the Foundation's Wendy's Wonderful Kids program. Edna, their Wendy's Wonderful Kids recruiter, was dedicated to finding them a forever family together. 

 
In her search, Edna found Mark and Celeste - nearly 2,000 miles away from where the children were living. Soon after boarding a plane to meet Mark and Celeste, Edna knew their family was the right fit.

  
Adopted in 2020, Jermesha, Floyd and Jermain now have the stability they need to simply enjoy childhood. Today, they are playing sports, growing into themselves and making family memories.  

Edna was an advocate for the children and the family through every step of the adoption journey. "If we didn't have Edna, I think we would've been pretty lost," Celeste shared.
